Miranda works in queer theory, fan studies, and nineteenth-century British literature and is committed to interdisciplinary teaching and writing. She has a hybrid creative/critical writing practice. Her work often includes considerations of queer and/or feminized adolescence, whether within young Victorian spirit mediums, her own teenage diary, or Taylor Swift. She is particularly interested in the figure of the imagined child within contemporary debates about sexual politics. Her current project about a dysfunctional English department at a fictional Pittsburgh university can be found on www.orelsemystery.com, where the novel at the heart of the project, Or Else, is being serialized.
