Congratulations to graduate students Sreemoyee Dasgupta, Mary Gryctko, and Shawna McDermott

Three graduate students in Children's Literature and Childhood Studies have been honored with Mellon and Lawler fellowships for 2019-20. The Mellon is awarded to students who show exceptional promise and ability. The Lawler is given to students who show potential for an outstanding career in teaching and research.

Mary Gryctko has won a Mellon fellowship for work on her dissertation, "Eternal Innocence: The Victorian Cult of the Dead Child."

Sreemoyee Dasgupta has won a Lawler fellowship for work on her dissertation, "Nationalism, Genre and Childhood in Colonial Indian Children's Literature."

Shawna McDermott has won a Lawler fellowship for work on her dissertation, "Visual Culture and the Modern Child: Race and Imperalism in Children's Magazines 1873-1939."
